New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement Announces August 2026 Total Gaming Revenue Results (njoag.gov) — Atlantic City's casino hotels brought in $294.9 million in August, down 5.5% from last year, even as year-to-date casino win topped $2.01 billion. Internet gaming and overall total gaming revenue continue to grow for 2026, shaping the tax dollars and economic activity that support local jobs, services, and investment in and around the city.

Atlantic City mayor's gala gives more than $300K to 10 nonprofits (breakingac.com) — Atlantic City residents are seeing more than $300,000 from the mayor's "Future is Ours" gala flow directly to 10 local nonprofits, led by a $56,000 boost for the Police Athletic League. Hosted at Hard Rock, the event brought total gala fundraising past $1 million, supporting seniors, youth sports, veterans, cultural groups, and community foundations across the city.
   

3. Atlantic City Man Pleads Guilty in February Shootout (973espn.com) — An Atlantic City man has pleaded guilty for his role in a February shootout near Pennsylvania and Adriatic avenues, where surveillance video showed gunfire exchanged with a passing vehicle. Under a plea deal, 24-year-old Kasean Griffin faces a recommended six-year sentence for aggravated assault plus additional time for a weapons charge, underscoring ongoing concerns about gun violence in city neighborhoods.
   

4. Board of Jewish Education presents 'Through the Lens of History' with Vicki Gold Levi (jewishvoicesnj.org) — A free October 12 program in Margate will spotlight Atlantic City's golden age through historian Vicki Gold Levi, whose family helped document the city's Boardwalk, entertainers, and everyday residents. You'll hear stories behind iconic local photos and learn how Atlantic City's colorful past is being preserved, with a dessert reception and advance registration required.
   

5. Why Wonder Group, Banker Steel cut over 600 jobs in New Jersey (nj1015.com) — Atlantic City readers should know the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel has warned that 91 remaining employees could be laid off by Christmas, as its owner seeks state financial help to avoid closure. The hotel's situation is part of a broader wave of New Jersey layoffs, including hundreds of jobs shifting from North Jersey to new facilities in Gloucester County.
