2 Busted For Illegal Gun Distribution: Stafford Police

A Beachwood man and Whiting woman had defaced handguns, ghost guns, rifles, shotguns, ammo and more, Stafford police said.

STAFFORD, NJ — An investigation into the distribution of illegal firearms in the area led to two people being found in possession of numerous guns, magazines, ammo and more, Stafford police said.

The Stafford Township Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit, New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression South, and Ocean County Narcotics Strike Force Unit concluded the investigation on Nov. 4, Stafford police said in a release.

George A. Garulle, 55, of Neptune Avenue in Beachwood and Dana Restaino, 39, of Schoolhouse Road in Whiting were charged with numerous weapons and drugs offenses as a result.

Search warrants were executed on a house on Neptune Avenue in Beachwood and a room at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Toms River, police said. A car belonging to Garulle and Restaino was also searched.

Police found "numerous" illegal firearms, including defaced handguns, handguns with no serial numbers (ghost guns), rifles and shotguns. Garulle and Restaino also had high capacity magazines, various amounts of ammo, methamphetamine and a "substantial amount" of cash, police said.

Garulle was charged with possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of large capacity magazine, four counts of possession of a firearm without a serial number, four counts of unlawful possession of rifles/shotguns, certain persons to not have weapon, possession of a defaced firearm and distribution of an undetectable firearm.

Restaino was charged with possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of large capacity magazine, four counts of possession of a firearm without a serial number, four counts of unlawful possession of rifles/shotguns, possession of a defaced firearm and distribution of an undetectable firearm.

Both were taken to Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
