LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ — Three dogs were captured Monday after they repeatedly "terrorized" people around Little Egg Harbor, police said. The dogs have bitten at least 12 people, not including unconfirmed reports, according to authorities.

Little Egg Harbor police released a video of a man staving off the dogs as they surround and bark at him.

The dogs bit a man and woman at about 2:15 p.m. Monday around Lake Winnipesaukee Drive. Police worked over the next hour to finally capture them.

Little Egg Harbor police have responded to calls about the dogs seven times in the last four months. The owner, who police didn't identify, has received several summonses for the prior incidents.

Animal control removed the dogs Dec. 10, but they were returned to their owner sometime after, police said. Police gave the dogs to animal control again Monday.

"Nobody should live in fear of allowing their children to play outside, walk down the street or simply get the mail," LEHPD wrote. "The Little Egg Harbor Police Department will do everything in its power to ensure these dogs are never returned and allowed to menace this neighborhood in the future."

This is an active investigation, and police said they will inform the public of a resolution.
