Barnegat Farmers Market To Have Shorter Hours This Week Due To Heat
The weekly market will be cut short Thursday due to "extreme heat," township officials said.
BARNEGAT, NJ — The Barnegat Farmers Market will have shorter hours this Thursday due to "extreme heat," township officials said.
On July 21, the market will open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Typically, the market closes at 3 p.m.
Ocean County is under an "excessive heat watch" until 8 p.m. on July 21, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday and Sunday are expected to be the most oppressively hot and humid days in the current heat wave, the National Weather Service said. According to forecasters, heat indexes could reach as high as 106 degrees.
"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur," the National Weather Service said in an advisory. "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances."
