Barnegat Man Killed As Car Rear-Ends Truck On Route 33: Police
The crash took the life of a 26-year-old man, whose name has not been released.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A Barnegat man was killed early Wednesday morning when his car rear-ended a tractor trailer on Route 33 in Freehold Township, police there said Wednesday afternoon.
The 26-year-old Barnegat man, whose name was not released, was driving a 2016 Ford Escape westbound on Business Route 33 in the area of Freehold Cartage when his car hit the back of a 2000 Peterbuilt tractor trailer owned by Freehold Cartage, police said.
The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. and driver of the Ford was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, in Neptune, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the tractor trailer, which also was westbound on Business Route 33, was not injured. He was identified as a 26-year-old man from Plainfield.
Business Route 33 was closed between Kondrup Way and Asbury Avenue for about three hours while Freehold Township Police investigated. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Freehold Township Police Officer Cherney and Detective T. Smith are investigating.
