The unofficial start to summer is here, but the weekend is for remembering those who gave their lives for our country.
BARNEGAT-MANAHAWKIN, NJ — This upcoming Memorial Day Weekend is for remembering and honoring those who gave their lives for our country. Here are some observations and events around Barnegat and Manahawkin.
Barnegat
On May 29, the American Legion and VFW posts with the Barnegat High School JROTC will hold a memorial service at the Fred Watts Gazebo Park at 10 a.m.

On May 30, the American Legion will hold a Legion memorial service at the Legion Pavilion at 12 p.m. Following the ceremony will be live music and a barbecue.
Stafford

The Stafford Township Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on May 29 at 9 a.m. The ceremony will occur at the Municipal Courtyard located at the Stafford Township Municipal Building at 260 East Bay Avenue in Manahawkin.
