Barnegat-Manahawkin Prepares For Major Winter Storm: Latest Forecast, How To Prepare

BARNEGAT-MANAHAWKIN, NJ — As New Jersey braces for a winter storm set to begin on Saturday night, Patch has created a guide for impacts in Barnegat-Manahawkin, local preparations and more.
According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, New Jerseyans should expect around 12-18 inches of snow from Saturday night to Monday.
In the Toms River area, forecasters are predicting 12 inches of total snow accumulation. All of the Garden State is expected to be under Winter Storm Watch from Saturday evening through Monday afternoon.

Ahead of the storm, Barnegat officials are advising residents to prepare early with the following steps:

Stafford officials shared the following:
• Snow Plow Operations: In accordance with Stafford Township Code Chapter 201-36, parking is prohibited on township roadways during snow plow operations. Please remove all vehicles, trash cans, and obstructions from the street to allow for proper snow removal.
• Travel Advisory: Road conditions may become slippery and hazardous. Motorists are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and allow extra time if travel is required.
• Road Treatment: Stafford Township Public Works, along with the Ocean County Road Department, will be treating and plowing roadways as conditions warrant.
• Emergency Use of Dispatch: Residents are asked to limit calls to police dispatch during the storm to police, fire, or medical emergencies only.
For those without shelter, a “Code Blue” alert has been extended in Ocean County until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
“Code Blue” is put in place when temperatures drop below freezing (32 F), and conditions pose a threat to unsheltered individuals.
