Barnegat Police Chief Graduates From FBI National Academy
FBI Director Christopher Wray delivered remarks at the graduation ceremony, which included law enforcement from around the world.

QUANTICO, VA — Barnegat Police Chief Keith A. Germain joined some elite company in law enforcement. Germain graduated Friday from the FBI National Academy.
Germain was one of 257 graduates, who hailed from 49 states, 37 countries, four military organizations and six federal civilian organizations. FBI Director Christopher Wray delivered remarks at the ceremony, which culminated the 11-week program in Virginia.
“This was a profound leadership experience,” Germain said. “The ability to exchange ideas and learn from the top 1% of law enforcement leaders across the globe was invaluable.”

The FBI National Academy provides coursework in several aspects of law enforcement, including intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, behavioral science, law enforcement communication and forensic science.
“You get a view of what has worked, what hasn't worked, and great ideas that we can apply to our mission as an agency here in Barnegat," Germain said.

Germain returns to work this week with Barnegat police. He thanked the community and Barnegat PD for their work in his absence. Captain Ryan Dugan led the agency while Germain was gone.
The FBI National Academy, created in 1935, is held four times per year. Candidates must fulfill the following admission requirements:
- Be a regular, full-time officer of a duly-constituted law enforcement agency of a municipality, county, or state, having at least five years of substantial and continuous experience.
- Be at least 25 years old.
- Be in excellent physical condition, capable of strenuous exertion and regular participation in the use of firearms, physical training, and defensive tactics, which will be confirmed by a thorough physical examination (submitted when requested by the FBI) by a medical doctor of the nominee’s choosing and at the nominee’s expense.
- Possess excellent character and enjoy a reputation for professional integrity.
- Exhibit an interest in law enforcement as a public service, a seriousness of purpose, qualities of leadership and enjoy the confidence and respect of fellow officers.
- Have a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate.
- Agree to remain in law enforcement for a minimum of three years after graduating from the FBI National Academy.
