GoFundMe Created For Barnegat Teen Struck By Car

In just one day, the fundraiser for Makiah Worthy, who is in the PICU after being struck by a car, has exceeded its $10,000 goal.

BARNEGAT, NJ — A fundraiser for the Barnegat teenager struck by a car in Manahawkin Wednesday night has already exceeded its goal.

As of Friday morning, "Help Support Tiffany and her daughter Makiah" has raised $13,590 of its $10,000 goal.

Makiah Worthy, 15, is currently in the PICU at Jersey Shore Medical Center in critical condition after being struck by a car in Manahawkin Wednesday night while attempting to cross Route 72 with a group of friends. Read More: 15-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck In Stafford: Police

The fundraiser was organized by coworkers of Makiah's mom, Tiffany Worthy.

"Tiffany is a long-time team member and friend and has provided care to those in need for the last 15 years," organizer Milena Rooney wrote. "As a member of our work family, she is well known to everyone here on campus for her loving heart and soul."

The money raised in the fundraiser will go towards supporting the family as Makiah recovers.

"Please keep Tiffany and her family in your thoughts and prayers and any support you can give will be greatly appreciated," Rooney wrote.
