Help Clean Up 'Road To Nowhere' In Manahawkin

Join the Stafford Township Green Team in cleaning up this part of the Manahawkin Wildlife Management Area this weekend.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Stafford Mayor Greg Myhre and the Township Council are inviting the public to help clean up part of town this weekend.

The "Road to Nowhere Clean Up" is held on Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants will meet at Stafford Avenue and Hilliard Boulevard.

Road to Nowhere is part of the Manahawkin Wildlife Management Area and leads to the Bridge to Nowhere, which is a great local spot for birding. During the cleanup, a few birders will be present to help identify birds that are heard or seen.

The Manahawkin WMA is one of the "few remaining large expanses of salt marsh and transitional woodland coastal habitat" in the state, according to the National Audubon Society.

Participants are encouraged to bring water, a snack, bug spray, sunscreen and binoculars. Supplies will be provided by Stafford Township and Alliance for a Living Ocean.
