Manahawkin Man Charged In Jan. 6 Riot: Officials
Manahawkin's Larry Fife Giberson helped rioters in shoving police at the Capitol, cheering when weapons were used against them, feds say.
MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A Manahawkin man joined other rioters in pushing police officers blocking a tunnel entrance and cheered as they were attacked during the breach at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to a criminal complaint filed in the District of Columbia.
Larry Fife Giberson, 21, was charged with civil disorder, a felony and related misdemeanor offenses, according to the Department of Justice. He was taken into custody on March 14.
Giberson, a Southern Regional High School alum and Princeton University student, was one of many rioters who repeatedly used violence against police officers who were guarding the Lower West Terrace "tunnel" entrance to the Capitol, according to court documents.

He entered the tunnel at about 3:10 p.m., and made his way towards the front of the pack of rioters, officials said. At the front, he joined other rioters in a coordinated "heave-ho" pushing effort in an attempt to force their way into the building, according to the documents.
While Giberson was at the front, one officer was crushed between a door and a rioter's shield, officials said.

A few minutes later, Giberson rushed to the tunnel entryway and began waving more rioters into the tunnel, according to officials. He went back for a second round of coordinated pushing, but officers were able to get temporary control and push Giberson and fellow rioters out.
Rioters kept battling to get back in the tunnel, officials said, and Giberson stood by, occasionally pushing with the crowd against police.
One officer was pulled out of the tunnel and assaulted, and Giberson tried to start a chant of "DRAG THEM OUT!" according to court documents. The chant did not catch on, but he was heard shouting it at least three times, the documents said.
Giberson then cheered as weapons and pepper spray were used against officers, the documents said.
The FBI interviewed Giberson, who confirmed that he was the individual seen in several photographs and videos from Jan. 6. He is expected to make his first appearance in federal court on Tuesday.
