LBI Restaurant Reopens After Floor Collapse Fears Evacuate Wedding
After a wedding reception had to be evacuated earlier this month due to floor collapse concerns, Daymark on LBI has reopened.
BARNEGAT LIGHT, NJ — A Long Beach Island restaurant has fully reopened after fears that its second floor would collapse caused a wedding reception to be evacuated.
The owners of Daymark in Barnegat Light posted a message to Facebook saying that as of Sept. 24, the restaurant had reopened.
"Thank you to all the first responders who were on duty and off for their quick and efficient response last Saturday evening," the owners said.

On Sept. 17, wedding guests and patrons had to be evacuated after reports that the second floor was collapsing. However, the floor did not collapse, but instead caved in, officials said at the time. Read More: Floor Caves In During Wedding At Jersey Shore Restaurant: Officials
An issue caused a flex in the building, and has since been repaired and reinforced accordingly, according to Daymark, who also denied social media reports that the floor had collapsed.

"We always put the safety of our employees, patrons, community, and families first," Daymark said. "At no time was the building over 'rated' capacity."
Barnegat Light's building department completed a final inspection of safety and the restaurant was ready to reopen.
