Lighthouse International Film Society-Spring Screenings & Special Events planned to lead up to our Ninth Year June 8-11th

LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ- MARCH 13, 2017-Lighthouse International Film Society has Spring Screenings and Special Events planned to lead up to our wonderful Ninth Year of the Lighthouse International Film Festival.

Films are screened all year long by the Lighthouse International Film Society- a group of film enthusiasts to spring out of The Lighthouse International Film Festival. This is a group of volunteers and residents that enjoy films, and of-course all are welcome to attend. The first Springtime event will be the Screening Spaghetti Man with the Filmmaker Q & A follow the film.
This will take place Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.at the Long Beach Island Museum-129 Engleside Ave, Beach Haven, NJ 08008. The Admission: $5 Free: LIFS members

Spaghetti Man is a fresh, hilarious and classic spoof on life! If you love the 4 Big S’s: spaghetti, soup, super heroes and silliness; the screening of Spaghetti Man at the Long Beach Island Museum is definitely up your alley. In Mark Potts’ new film, Spaghetti Man, all you need is a microwave malfunction and some spaghetti to save the day. Clark doesn’t care about you. He doesn’t care about the world. He barely cares about himself. But after an incident with an old bowl of spaghetti and a malfunctioning microwave, he becomes a superhero that can fight crime with the power of spaghetti. Lighthouse International Film Society's second Spring time event will be the screening of the film - Ocean Frontiers III: Leaders in Ocean Stewardship & the New Blue Economy. The screening and panel discussion will take place Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 7:00PM at the Ship Bottom Volunteer Firehouse- 2006 Central Ave, Ship Bottom, NJ 08008.
Ocean Frontiers III, produced by Green Fire Productions, Ocean Frontiers III tells the story of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic ocean plans and chronicles our efforts to plan for a healthy, safe, sustainable future. The film examines the intersection of national security, maritime commerce, fishing, and recreation, as well as the expanding offshore wind energy and aquaculture industries.
The film’s release coincides with the recent finalization of the nation’s first ocean plans in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The plans, which are based on the most comprehensive database of scientific and ocean use information ever compiled across the regions, will help manage the ocean’s many uses, including shipping, recreation, fishing, offshore energy and wildlife habitat protection.
“Ocean planning is essential for protecting the health and resilience of our oceans,” said Karen Meyer, Executive Director of Green Fire Productions and producer of Ocean Frontiers III. “We want to use this film as a way to continue building support for the new Northeast and Mid- Atlantic ocean plans, and keep the momentum strong in the regions that are developing their plans – including the West Coast and the Pacific Islands.”
