Lysander The Parakeet Is Home Safe, Thanks To A Good Samaritan And Surf City Police Officers

Man called police to tell them the little white and blue parakeet had landed on his shoulder.

Lysander the missing parakeet is missing no more.

He's home safe and sound, thanks to a man named Dave and some Surf City police officers.

Dave was outside enjoying a "tasty beverage" when the small blue and white parakeet flew up to him and perched on his arm late Monday night. He called Surf City police to report the visitor, who clearly was out of his element, according to the police department's Facebook page.

"More often than not, friendly animals have very worried owners who are looking for them or will be looking for them as soon as they notice they're missing," the post states. "Thank you to Dave for contacting us regarding the found bird. Kudos to Officer Rible, Officer Robinson, Officer Costabile, and Officer Roe for getting this little bird back home safely."
