Maximilian, Kiwanis Host Prevention Assemblies

Prevention assemblies in elementary schools.

The Maximilian Foundation, Kiwanis LBI and NJ Kiwanis District Foundation are funding and hosting ‘Steered Straight’ assemblies for the elementary schools that send to Pinelands. Steered Straight shares a message of reality about life-choices and the importance of consequential thinking so that kids understand that there are consequences to their actions.

These assemblies follow the Parent’s Night Open House for Prevention which was held at Frog Pond Elementary School on October 18th. At Parents Night, keynote speaker, Mike DeLeon, Steered Straight, focused on the heroin, opioid and prescription drug issue and how serious it is. He also discussed alcohol and marijuana and shared what the kids will hear at the assemblies planned for October 23rd & 24th which are focused on positive youth development and bullying to prevent drug use.
