One Of Two Original Stafford Police Officers Dies

Retired Capt. Floyd Cranmer Dies At 82.

From the Stafford Township Police Department:

Floyd Cranmer was a cop in Stafford before there was a full-time Stafford Township Police Department.

He was one of the first two police officers in the township, appointed as sergeant of police in January 1963, when the department operated on a part-time basis.

In May 1963, the mayor and Township Council established a full-time police department. They quickly appointed Cranmer as a full-time police sergeant.

Ten years later, In 1973. Chief Frank Carletto retired and Captain Cranmer was appointed acting Chief of Police by the Township Council. Capt. Cranmer served as the acting Chief of Police until Chief Larry D. Parker was appointed as the Stafford Township police chief on Aug. 5, 1974.

Capt.Cranmer continued to serve with the police department until his retirement in the early 90’s. Capt. Cranmer was 82.
