Several Injured In Multi-Car Chain Crash In Barnegat: Police
Multiple cars were rear-ended waiting to turn left onto Bengal Boulevard Tuesday morning, with one overturning, police said.
BARNEGAT, NJ — Several people were injured Tuesday morning when a car rear-ended another, creating a chain of crashes as people waited to turn left onto Bengal Boulevard, Barnegat police said.
It was shortly after 7 a.m. when the crash occurred on Barnegat Boulevard North between Melissa Drive and Rosehill Road, police said.
A black 2011 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 40-year-old woman and occupied by a 14-year-old boy, was heading north when it rear-ended a 2020 Acura MDX, police said.

That Acura, driven by a 45-year-old woman and occupied by a 15-year-old boy, then rear-ended a 2010 Ford Taurus and overturned onto its roof due to the impact, police said.
The Taurus, driven by a 17-year-old boy, rear-ended a 2024 Chevrolet Trax due to the impact, police said. The Chevrolet was being driven by an 18-year-old boy and occupied by 16- and 18-year-old passengers, police said.

The Acura, Taurus and Chevrolet were all stopped in the left lane, waiting to turn left onto Bengal Boulevard at the time of the crash, police said.
Several people involved were taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment and one was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
