Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation Has New Executive Director

Deborah Allen has worked with non-profits.

Deborah Allen has been named executive director of the Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation. 

Having most recently served as Director of Development for Cetronia Ambulance Corps, the largest, non-profit community based ambulance organization in eastern Pennsylvania, Allen is a fundraising leader.

Allen's background includes substantial experience in a variety of settings including a Chamber of Commerce, philanthropy and organizational management consulting, community hospital foundations, and work within a major healthcare system as Major Gift Officer.

In an interview, Allen told Patch that she looked over the description for the executive director position, and applied because she liked the idea of being associated with a system that is "so integrated with the Southern Ocean community."

Allen has also served as Major Gifts Officer for the Lehigh Valley Health System, as Campaign Director for Community Counseling Service (CCS) in Hawaii and as Hospital Foundation Director at Otsego Memorial Hospital (Gaylord, Michigan) where she successfully completed a hospital emergency department campaign.

She is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) as well as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). She is a current member of MOAA, the Military Offers Association of America, having obtained the rank of Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserves (USNR).


“We are very excited to have Deborah join us at this important time for our hospital as the Foundation looks to continue their close work with the community and complete the largest campaign in our hospital’s history bringing our new emergency department to life,” said Joe , hospital president.  “Her experience and enthusiasm will be a great addition to our hospital and the Southern Ocean community.”

Allen said one of her first priorities will be the recently expanded emergency department.

"Seventy percent of the hospital's admissions come through the emergency department, so it impacts every element of the hospital," Allen said.
