STATE CHAMPION run continues for GYMDAWGS

Extreme Gymnastics added 5 more Individual State Champions at the annual Jersey Optional Gymnastics Association Level 1-4 State Championships this year, while having 2, TOP-7 Team Places with their two qualifying teams.

The J.O.G.A. Championships, now in its 17th season, saw Extreme PLACE 5th with their Level 4 team while their Level 2 squad took home the 7th PLACE banner amongst the over 30+ competing clubs during the 2-day event.

The Gymdawgs have been a model of consistency in these State Finales, with 12 of 13 years having a TOP-10 Ranked Team in the State.

Individually, ASHLEY HEMENWAY and AUTUMN SHACKLETON both topped the podium twice at Level 3, with ASH winning the State Title on Floor Exercise and AUTUMN PLACING 1ST on Beam with a Personal Best, “stuck” routine. While together, the teammates shared the All-Around Championships with identical 33.5 scores. Combined the girls added 4 more TOP-8 medals for the competition. Noteworthy is that AUTUMN and ASHLEY are both former State Champions in prior seasons and at different levels.

At Level 4, HAILEY KLIMAS won the State Championship on Uneven Bars and captured TOP-6 medals in her other events including 2nd PLACE finishes in the All-Around and on Floor where she continued to post big numbers on this event, scoring a 9.05 and runnning her streak of 9.0 or higher on Floor in all 6 of her meets this year.

Together with ASHLEY and AUTUMN, HAILEY’s State Title gives Head Coach KIM LISOWSKI and her staff at Extreme Gymnastics the honor of now having coached 98 Individual State Champions.

MORE Level 4

High scorer here was EVA POLLAK, Extreme’s youngest competitor for the weekend. EVA posted a 34.075 in her All-Around which was just fractions away from the overall title. She had a “stuck” Beam where she wound up PLACING 3rd there, along with a 4th on Floor, a 5th on Bars, and lastly, a 7th PLACE medal on Vault.

ERIN ALEGRE had a Career High on Floor, where she took home the 3rd PLACE Medal on that event, plus a 10th on Beam and an 8th PLACE finish in her All-Around.

Gymdawg TOP TOTAL

KYLIE PICARO, the singular Level 1 for the event, was the overall high scorer for the Gymdawgs as she put up a 36.475, which PLACED her 4th in the All-Around. KYLIE had a Personal Best on Vault where her 9.55 on that event gave her the 3rd PLACE medal there. She also took home 3 additional TOP-10 awards for her efforts on the day.

GABBY DEO, ALI ENGLISH, and GABBY CONFORTI made up Extreme’s Level 2 Team, with ALI being the high-scorer for this group. Her 34.225 PLACED ALI 7th in the All-Around, whiles he picked up 3rd & 4th PLACE medals respectfully on Beam and Floor.

GABBY D. had 3, TOP-6 finishes, highlighted by an almost Career High on Vault where she took home the 3rd PLACE award there. In addition, she PLACED 6th on Bars and 4th on Beam for the competition.

GABBY C. had another “stuck” routine on Beam for the Dawgs, which was good enough for a 6th PLACE on that event while she added an 8th PLACE medal on Floor.

The 9 Extreme Gymnasts combined for a total of 34 TOP-10 medals amongst the almost 500 athletes participating at States.
