Surflight Theater Swamped By Money Woes
Historic Beach Haven Theater needs $600,000 to keep going.

The last few years have been more than tough for the historic Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven.
Theater officials were forced to declare bankruptcy in 2011. 2012 was even worse. There was a fire in one of the buildings. Then came Oct. 29, 2012. Superstorm Sandy flooded the 450-seat theater and the ice cream parlor, according to app.com
The Surflight reopened in April 2013, thanks to donations from the public and its own Board of Trustees. But it’s not enough to keep things going.

Theatre officials are trying to raise $600,000 for the Annual Appeal, so there will be a 2015 season.
“Every gift is important and appreciated, as it is only through our donors, subscribers, groups and ticket buyers that we are able to produce quality shows and continue to train aspiring talent for the world of the theatre,” a statement on the Surflight’s website states. We can’t do it without you!”
