UPDATE: Oyster Creek Sirens Will Sound Tuesday Morning During Semi-Annual Test
Sirens will blare at 10 a.m., Exelon says

Don’t be alarmed if you hear Oyster Creek’s emergency warning sirens going off on Tuesday morning.
Exelon Generation - the plant’s owner - will conduct its semi-annual, full volume test of the emergency warning sirens with battery back-up at approximately 10 a.m. The event is one of two semi-annual tests scheduled for the first Tuesday of June and December each year, spokesman Suzanne D’Ambrosio said.
Exelon has replaced all 42 emergency warning sirens in the 10-mile radius around Oyster Creek with new, state-of-the-art units featuring battery back-up. The original sirens were removed earlier this year, she said.

“The purpose of the sirens is to notify residents to tune to an Emergency Alert System (EAS) radio or television station in case of an emergency,” D’Ambrosio said.
The Oyster Creek siren investment was part of Exelon Generation’s commitment to replace and upgrade the emergency sirens at all of the sites in the mid-Atlantic, including Limerick Generating Station, Three Mile Island Generating Station and Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station. This project involved a total investment of more than $11 million and the replacement of 400 sirens, she said.
