Voting In Barnegat, Stafford: Everything You Need To Know

Today is the day! Election Day is here. Polls will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. to return your mail-in ballot.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Today is the day, Election Day is here! Here is everything you need to know before heading out to the polls to submit your mail-in ballot. Take a look at who is on the ballot, where to vote and how to vote in Barnegat and Stafford.

On The Ballot:

  • Presidential race: Residents can either cast a write-in vote or choose, among the major parties, between Republican President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, or Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden and US Sen. Kamala Harris. Also running are: Don Blankenship/William Mohr (Constitution Party); Howie Hawkins/Angela Nicole Walker (Green); Jo Jorgensen/Spike Cohen (Libertarian); Gloria La Riva/Sunil Freeman (Party for Socialism and Liberation); Roque De La Fuente/Darcy Richardson (The Alliance Party) and Bill Hammons/Eric Bodenstab (Unity Party).
  • U.S. Senate: One U.S. Senate seat will be contested: Incumbent Democrat Cory Booker will face Republican challenger Rik Mehta and several third-party and independent challengers.
  • U.S. House of Representatives: All 12 House seats in New Jersey are up for election, including the Third District, where all of Barnegat and part of Stafford falls. The 3rd District race pits Democrat Andy Kim, the incumbent, against Republican David Richter, and two independents, Martin Weber of Barnegat and Robert Shapiro of Haddonfield. Part of Stafford will vote in the 2nd District race between Republican incumbent Jeff Van Drew, Democratic challenger Amy Kennedy and candidates Jenna Harvey and Jesse Ehrnstrom.
  • Barnegat Township Committee: Republicans Alfonso Cirulli and Joseph Marte run against Democratic candidates Charles J. Cunliffe and Peggy A. Houle. Cirulli is an incumbent. Two positions are available.
  • Barnegat school board: Seven candidates are running for three available positions. Robert Geddes, Doreen Continanza and Justin Deemer are running on the "The Brighter Future" ticket. Christoper Sharpe, Alicia Bivins and Sandra Churney are running on the "The Next Voice" ticket. George Fedorczyk is running independently under the "Progress for Education" slogan. Fedorczyk returned a Patch questionnaire.
  • Stafford school board: Seven candidates are running for three available three-year terms. Christopher Fritz, Deborah M. Lyons and Gerald Simonelli are running under the "Community Together Wins" ticket — Erin Sharkey has campaigned with them but is running unopposed for a one-year term. Patricia Formica, Gregory Guido and James Curcio are running on the "Accountability and Transparency" ticket. Kenneth Budinski is running independently.
  • Southern Regional school board: Thomas W. Serpico and Heather Tatur are running unopposed for two available positions.
  • Ocean County: There is one four-year term on the Board of Freeholders up for election. Incumbent Republican Joseph Vicari is being challenged by Democrat Helen Dela Cruz and by Libertarian Party candidate Dan Valentine. The County Clerk's race features Republican Scott Colabella vs. Democrat Kathy M. Russell.
  • Marijuana legalization/Ballot questions: Voters will decide whether to legalize the possession and use of marijuana. Voters will also decide whether to makes peacetime veterans eligible to receive the veterans' property tax deduction.

How And Where To Vote:

Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 3 and received by Nov. 10.
