2 Unlocked Vehicles Burglarized In Basking Ridge
Both vehicles were burglarized on the same night in the township.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles after two unlocked cars were burglarized on the same night, according to the Bernards Township Police blotter.
The owner of an unlocked white 2017 white VW Tiguan parked on Baldwin Court said someone entered it, Bernards Township Police report.
Items inside were shuffled around but nothing was taken.

The owner of an unlocked 2017 red Subaru Crosstrek parked on Woodward Lane said someone stole a pair of sunglasses and a flashlight from inside the car, police report.
Both burglaries occurred sometime overnight between Sunday, July 14 and Monday, July 15.

"Please keep vehicles locked, without the keys in them and valuables out of sight. Pay attention to suspicious activity at neighbors’ residences and of vehicles that appear suspicious in parks and parking lots," police said.

On July 13 at around 10:54 p.m.:Officers responded to a report of a fire in the driveway of 27
Knollcroft Road. The residence was having construction work being performed and the contractor who was refinishing the floors left sawdust and chemicals in the same location on the driveway. It is believed a chain reaction of chemicals and sawdust lead to a spontaneous combustion on the driveway. There were no injuries and damage consisted of driveway blacktop and grass in the yard. The Liberty Corner Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
On July 19 at around 1:39 a.m.: Ryan Gunther, 22, of Boston, Massachusetts was stopped on Martinsville Road in a 2008 black Jeep Cherokee for an equipment violation. Officer Dustin Lopez, while speaking to the driver, Gunther, smelled and observed raw marijuana inside the interior of the vehicle. As a result, a search was conducted of the vehicle and marijuana and a marijuana grinder was in the center console. Gunther was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance(CDS) and possession of CDS paraphernalia and released.
