Basking Ridge Home Burglary Under Investigation
Bernards Township Police are asking anyone who may have observed any suspicious activity to contact authorities.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township Police are investigating a burglary to an unoccupied home on Hartley Lane.
The home burglary occurred on Friday, April 13 between 7:15 and 9 p.m., Bernards Township Police Chief Shimsky said.
Anyone who may have observed any suspicious activity during this time is asked to contact Detective John Neiman at 908-204-3050.

"In the future, if you see any suspicious activity, call the police department immediately and ask that the person or situation be looked into," Shimsky said. "The police rely on our residents to be our eyes and ears."
To report any suspicious activity call police at 908-766-1122 or 911 for emergencies. Descriptions of people and vehicles including license plates are important.

Shimsky also offered the following tips for residents to reduce the chance of being targeted by a burglary:
- Lock your home at all times. Thieves will often target unlocked homes.
- Put lights and televisions on timers or delayed switches when not home.
- Keep records/photos of valuable possessions. Retain make, model and serial number of valuable electronics.
- Do not leave trash containers, newspapers or mail uncollected.
- If possible leave a vehicle or vehicles in the driveway.
