Car Burglaries, Thefts Rise In Somerset County

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office​ is warning residents to be on alert due to a rise in motor vehicle thefts and car burglaries​.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office is warning residents to be on alert due to a rise in motor vehicle thefts and car burglaries in the county.

Specifically there have been a number of incidents in Basking Ridge, Bernardsville and Warren.

Residents are reminded to practice basic crime prevention measures to prevent incidents like this from occurring.

"It is important to lock vehicles and secure keys to prevent them from being stolen and cars should be secured even when they're parked in your own driveway," Somerset County Prosecutor's Office stated.

Anyone with information pertaining to these incidents should call your local police department or Somerset County Communications at 908-526-2500 or make an anonymous report via the STOPit app, access code: SOMERSETNJ (available for free on the Google play store or Apple app store).
