Stolen Political Signs Reported In Basking Ridge
Political signs for school board and township committee candidates running in the upcoming general election were stolen in Basking Ridge.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A number of political signs representing school board and township committee candidates have been reported stolen in Basking Ridge.
Bernards Township Police Sergeant Alex McKnight told Patch a total of nine political signs have been stolen in July.
The following are the thefts reported to the police:

- A resident of Basking Ridge reported the theft of four Board of Education campaign signs (Lawrence Rascio, Deborah Marcus, and Erin Weber). Two of the signs were located on Allen Road and were taken Sometime between July 8 and July 12. The two other signs were located at the entrance of Pleasant Valley Park and the intersection of Church Street/Somerville Road respectively and were both taken between July 14 and July 16. The reporting party stated that some of the signs were replaced with campaign signs of competitors.
- A resident of Basking Ridge reported the theft of two Board of Education campaign signs (Janice Corrado and David Shaw). The signs were taken from Valley Road sometime before 7 p.m. on July 25. The reporting party stated that the signs were replaced with a competitor’s sign.
- A resident of Basking Ridge reported the theft of three Township Committee campaign signs (Gary Baumann and Tyler Seville). All three signs were taken from Haas Road and were believed to have been stolen between July 25 and July 26.
Both the Board of Education and Township Committee races are contested.
Six candidates have announced their intention to run for three open Bernards Township Board of Education seats.

- Deborah Marcus (with Rascio and Weber)
- Erin Weber (with Rascio and Marcus)
- Jennifer White (running under the slogan "Experienced Effective Educator")*
- Janice Corrado (with Shaw running under the slogan "Responsible Informed Leadership")
- David Shaw (with Corrado running under the slogan "Responsible Informed Leadership")
The Township Committee has four candidates running for two open seats.
Bernards Township Candidates:
- Gary Baumann - Republican*
- Tyler Seville - Republican
- Lily Wong - Democrat
- Ana Duarte McCarthy - Democrat
