Another ATM Skimmer Found At Bank In Nutley: Police
One of the devices – used for capturing private data of customers – was found at a Nutley bank. It isn't the first the town has seen.
NUTLEY, NJ — The skimming continues in Nutley.
On Friday, the Nutley Police Department asked residents to be on the lookout after yet another “skimming” incident involving an ATM took place in the township.
One of the devices – used for capturing private data of customers – was recently found at the Proponent Bank on Washington Avenue, authorities said.

Police said the latest incident began at 3:58 p.m. on March 9, when two people entered the Bloomfield Avenue branch of the bank and withdrew more than $1,000 using a customer’s credit card information.
Authorities responded to the Washington Avenue branch of the bank on March 11 after getting a report about a skimming device attached to the ATM. Investigators later determined that the device was installed on Feb. 22 and removed by the same suspects on Feb. 28 (see surveillance photos below).

Authorities released the following statement on Friday:
“Nutley police are working with Bank Security and Secret Service to ascertain how many accounts have been compromised. Please be aware of anyone acting suspicious that may be entering banks to install these devices, or if you have fraudulent activity on your account. If you reside near either bank at the time of these incidents and may have captured a vehicle or suspects on surveillance, call police 973-284-4940.”

PREVIOUS SKIMMING IN NUTLEY
Nutley police said an investigation continues into a similar ATM skimming incident that took place in January at the Capitol One location on Franklin Avenue. Authorities previously said it is possible that officers seized the device before the thieves obtained personal information from any potential victims in that case.

In past years, other ATM skimming devices have been found at the drive-through ATM at the PNC Bank on Franklin Avenue, and at an ATM at the 7-Eleven on Passaic Avenue.
