The March 11 incident isn’t the first time that a car has been found stripped of its tires in Belleville. In September 2016, a Hornblower Avenue resident found his 2011 Subaru Impreza raised off the ground on jack stands and bricks, with all four tires and rims missing. Police said the estimated value of the rims and tires was $1,400.

That spring, a series of similar thefts were reported in multiple nearby municipalities including Bloomfield, Newark, Irvington, Harrison and Elizabeth.
