• Heavy Fire Tears Through Belleville Home, Mutual Aid Called to Scene (rlsmedia.com) — A late-night house fire on Brighton Avenue in Belleville drew multiple fire crews and mutual aid after heavy flames poured from a two-and-a-half-story home Wednesday. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, then stayed to search the building, overhaul hot spots, and secure utilities. Officials are still investigating the cause and haven't yet released information about possible injuries.
   

• Invented town of Beltley, NJ leads to real funds for Belleville (nj1015.com) — A playful stunt creating the fictional town of "Beltley" between Belleville and Nutley has turned into a real boost for Belleville. Local coffee shop owner John "Cozz" Cozzarelli sold Beltley-themed merchandise and personally unicycled a $1,000 donation check to the Belleville Recreation Department at the municipal building.
   

• Mejia, Hathaway Find Common Ground Over NJ Lt. Gov Scandal As They Battle For NJ-11 Seat (patch.com) — Belleville voters are part of New Jersey's 11th Congressional District, where Rep. Analilia Mejia and challenger Joe Hathaway both called for Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell to resign after a sexual harassment investigation. Their rare agreement comes as they gear up for a November rematch that will decide who represents Belleville and neighboring towns in Congress. The race pits Mejia's progressive platform against Hathaway's pitch for "common sense" leadership.
