The experience begins the moment a family walks through the door. “When a family comes in—there’s a TLPC (The Little Play Café) member always there to greet you,” the owner explains. Families scan a QR code to complete the waiver; once finished, an associate quickly checks them in. Children then enjoy a two-hour play segment in the open-ended, loose-parts environment designed to spark creativity, independence, and social connections. Meanwhile, parents and caretakers can relax with café specialties—from espresso drinks and lattes to wholesome snacks—keeping their little ones comfortably in view.

That sense of safety and understanding runs especially deep for neurodiverse families. Two weeks ago, the café hosted a birthday party for a little boy on the autism spectrum. All of his friends were on the spectrum as well. “Every single parent repeatedly said how comfortable they felt with their little one at TLPC, whether it meant locking the front door because their child kept trying to push it open or saying ‘it’s ok’ when one little boy kept rearranging the juice boxes in the open refrigerator,” the owner recalls. “When those parents thanked me, they looked me in the eye with so much endearment. This touches my heart because I have been and still am that parent. I have an 11-year-old son that is on the autism spectrum.”

This personal connection shapes the café’s broader vision. The owner’s tagline captures it perfectly: “Play. Sip. Connect.” She is clear about her ambitions beyond a simple play place. “I don’t intend on keeping TLPC just as a play place. I want it to be a hub for parents and caretakers to come and build a community because you need it and I will do it!”
