• Acting NJDEP commissioner tours Shark River basin, calls for additional 'living shorelines' to help reduce nuisance flooding (news12.com) — Belmar residents living near L Street Beach and Route 35 are seeing state officials focus directly on their flooding problems, with plans for stronger bulkheads and new "living shorelines" along the Shark River. Acting NJDEP Commissioner Ed Potosnak toured the basin, and studies are already underway for Belmar-specific improvements that could reduce frequent street flooding while preserving the riverfront's natural character.
