• BH Approves Six New Police Positions; Residents Raise Questions Over Data, Super Secret Presentation and Transparency (nj21st.com) — Berkeley Heights Council has approved creating six new police positions, sparking resident questions about the data and transparency behind the decision and its future budget impact. The same meeting touched on pedestrian safety fixes near schools, traffic changes at Mary Kay McMillin ECC and Glenside Avenue, and lingering confusion over the stalled Lower Columbia recreation project.
   

• Hot Rods on Hamilton Returns to Berkeley Heights October 10 (tapinto.net) — Berkeley Heights residents can look forward to the Hot Rods on Hamilton car show returning October 10 at 411 Hamilton Ave, supporting the volunteer fire department. Classic car and truck owners can register for $20, while spectators enjoy free parking, food, refreshments, and a 50/50 raffle, with all proceeds benefiting the local fire department.
   

• Master Gardeners of Union County Award Scholarship to Marissa Duarte (ucnj.org) — Berkeley Heights residents are reminded that the Rutgers Cooperative Extension office on Grant Street is home base for the Master Gardeners of Union County, who just awarded their annual scholarship to student volunteer Marissa Duarte. Her work teaching younger gardeners and supporting a food pantry garden shows how this countywide program directly benefits local families and encourages youth interested in food, agriculture, and sustainability.
