2 Brush Fires Ignite On High-Risk Day In Bayville
Two fires, one in Fishers Pit and another near Louis and Monmouth avenues, were tackled by firefighters before they became catastrophic.

BERKELEY, NJ — Two brush fires sparked on Tuesday in Bayville as low humidity and gusty winds made for dangerous wildfire conditions.
Both fires were extinguished before getting out of hand thanks to the Bayville Volunteer Fire Department and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
"Today was a prime example of interagency operations with the NJFFS and a history of training together which took place within our response areas to stop 2 large scale incidents from occurring on todays high risk fire danger day," Bayville firefighters shared on social media on April 18.

A second fire was reported just two hours later after being spotted from Forest Fire Service observation towers.
When first arriving to this fire, in the area of Louis and Monmouth avenues, the apparatus found "a significant vegetation fire starting to advance swiftly," officials said.
The first arriving units were able to get ahead of the fire to contain it to a few acres.
Tuesday was a red flag warning day and restrictions were put in place from Monmouth to Salem counties to prevent fires from further spreading.
