Berkeley Man Hit Pot Underneath Toddler's Car Seat, Charged With Child Neglect: Cops

Arrest took place in Holiday City section of the township.

Berkeley police recently arrested a Wedgeport Drive man and charged him with child neglect after they discovered marijauna under the child's car seat while the child was still in the seat, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Alfred Foca conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Waldwick Court and North Edgebrook Drive at 6 p.m. on May 19.  The driver, Johnny Kimble Jr., 20, had a suspended license and two warrants out of Newark, the chief said.

Officers then discovered the marijuana hidden under the child's seat, while the child was using the seat. Kimble was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and child neglect. He as taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $5,000 bail, DiMichele said.
