Berkeley Township Police Department Looking For Minority Officers
Last day to file to take the Civil Service test is Aug. 31

If you are Hispanic, African-American or a women interested in becoming a Berkeley Township police officer, the police department wants to hear from you.
"The Berkeley Township Police Department is actively attempting to increase the number of Hispanic, African-American and female law enforcement officers who apply to our agency to resemble the demographic composition of the community we serve," according to a post on the department's Facebook page. "We often have more qualified applicants than positions to fill and we are asking your assistance in seeking those qualified."
Applicants must be residents of Berkeley Township. The township is a New Jersey Civil Service Commission municipality. All recruitment phases must conform to Civil Service rules and regulations.

The New Jersey Department of Personnel will conduct entry level exams, which are done biennially. The last date to file to take the test is Aug. 31.

"While the agency continues to attempt to attract qualified candidates, we do not have an anticipated hiring date," the post states. "This solicitation is meant to increase the number of personnel taking the examination.'
