Brush Fire At Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Burns 2,000 Acres, Officials
No one was injured, no buildings were affected, Air Force says

A brush fire at Joint Base McGuire-Fort Dix-Lakehurst has burned more than 2,000 acres at the base over the past few days, an app.com report says.
The fire began around 8 a.m. Tuesday and was still smoldering on Wednesday. There were no injuries and no base buildings or private homes were in danger. The base is home to units from the Army, Air Force and Navy.
The blaze was probably ignited by a flare or tracer round, Air Force Tech. Sgt. Chris Powell said.

"This is the time of year they see fires," said Powell. "It just happened that this one spread more than they usually do."
Base firefighters and state forest firefighters fought the blaze.
The total acreage of the base is around 42,000, Powell said.
