Jon Buhagiar scored a pin in the waning seconds of his bout at 152 pounds, but that was the only highlight for Central Regional, as the Golden Eagles fell to Freehold, 39-29, and were eliminated in the preliminary round of the Shore Conference Wrestling Tournament on Tuesday.
Freehold scored pins in four of the first six bouts as the Colonials sped out to a 24-8 lead. Chris Phillips (120) and Jalen Ramos (132) earned major decisions for Central in the early bouts. Central also picked up a victory at 160 by Brett Lobdell, but it wasn't enough for the Golden Eagles.
The Colonials advance to a meeting with second-seeded Ocean on Thursday at 5 p.m.
