BERKELEY, NJ — Some students were able to catch a fish for the first time ever at the Central Regional School District's first ever "Helping Hands Spring Fishing Day."

The high school fishing club paired with some of the special education classes for the event. Students with multiple disabilities were able to fish alongside members of the fishing club at Stafford Township's Ocean Acres Lake.

Students assisted with casting, baiting and dehooking freshwater species and did a "phenomenal job" doing so, Superintendent Tom Parlapanides said.

Creekside Outfitters of Waretown donated all of the bait and Bass Pro Shops of Atlantic City provided the rods, reels and gear.
