Coastal Ocean Beach Report For July 8, 2016

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies, with highs in the mid-80s.

Winds will be from the north at five miles per hour, switching over to the east at 10 miles per hour in the afternoon. The heat index values could reach 100 degrees during the afternoon.

The surf will be around two feet, with southerly swells of two feet. The water temperature is 70 degrees. Thre's a low risk of rip currents, but currents are still possible near piers, jetties and other areas, especially during low tide.

Swim only in guarded areas and discuss any surf zone hazards with the lifguards.

There is a low threat of lightning, which means there is little chance of thunderstorms. The UV index, which means there is little chance of thunderstorms today.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet is at 11:34 a.m. Low tide will occur at 5:39 p.m., followed by another high tide at 11:44 p.m.
