Here's Who's Running For Berkeley, Central Regional School Boards

Several candidates filed for both the Berkeley and Central Regional boards of education.

BERKELEY, NJ — July 25 was the deadline for candidates to file in school board elections. In Berkeley, which has two school districts, many filed for open seats. Here are the candidates in the Berkeley and Central Regional board of education races, according to the Ocean County Clerk.

Berkeley Township School District

There are three open seats for three-year terms. Under the "Bringing Berkeley Together" slogan are incumbents Michele Shedlock and James P. Coffey with newcomer Megan Ornstein.

Central Regional School District

Three seats for three-year terms are open in Berkeley and one unexpired one-year term is open for the Seaside Park sending district.

Running on the "Experienced, Honest, Dedicated" ticket are incumbents Lou Tuminaro and Denise Pavone-Wilson, along with former member George Dohn, who was unseated in 2021 by newcomers Merissa Borawksi and Heather Koenig.

Under the "Integrity and Values" slogan are Donnie Clyburn, Carol Cousins and Glenn D. Bradford.

Megan Bowens is also running. She did not give a slogan.

Two are running for the unexpired one-year term from Seaside Park.

Rita M. Kelly is running under "Common Sense Education" and Seaside Park's former mayor Robert W. Matthies is running under "Experienced and Proven."

Voters will head to the polls on Nov. 8 for the General Election.
