June Waller Of Bayville Dies At 86

A memorial service will be held on Saturday in Bayville.

June Waller, 86, formerly of Hackensack, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016.

June was born in England. She came to America on the Queen Mary in 1957 to work as a nanny in Teaneck. June took classes to obtain her GED and then went on to cosmetology school and became a hair stylist in 1958. She worked in the hair salon of JC Penney’s of Paramus for many years.

June had exuberance for life - she loved to entertain and she loved to travel and did extensively the world over, where she used her joy of photography to capture her trips. She loved the beach and sailing, she was an avid gardener; recreating an English garden in her tiny apartment yard in Hackensack. She was an active choir member of Christ Church in Hackensack and was an expert knitter. She would knit scarves to donate to service men and women overseas.

June was predeceased by her parents Robert and Evelyn (Spittles) Waller of Margate, England, her sister Dorothy (Waller) Pitman of Birmingham, England, and her brother-in-law Robert H. Leary of Bayville. June is survived by her sister Avril (Waller) Leary of Bayville, her brother James Waller and his wife Margaret of Kent, England, her brother-in-law Bernard Pitman of Birmingham, England; nephews: Brian Leary and his wife Barbara, of Bayville, Kevin Leary and his wife Tammy of Bayville, Adrian Pitman and his wife Janice of West Barns, Scotland, nieces; Sharon (Leary) Gorczynski and her husband William of Somerset, Corinne (Pitman) Kavalieros and her husband Hambis of Birmingham, England, Jacqueline Waller of England, Alex (Waller) Docherty and her husband Robert of Penrith, England. Also surviving are 13 great nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephew.

A Memorial Service will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ.
