Major Construction Project Set To Begin At Island Beach State Park

The installation of a new sewer line is expected to take nine months to complete, according to State Park officials.

ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, NJ — A major construction project is expected to begin soon at Island Beach State Park and take about nine months to complete, New Jersey State Park officials said.

The installation of a new sewer line will begin the week of Jan. 22, according to officials. The line will stretch the northbound lane from the park gatehouse to the nature center. There will be intermittent lane closures from the gatehouse to the nature center for the duration of the project.

The project is expected to be completed mid-to-late September, officials said, and will cause delays when visiting the park.

Officials elaborated on Facebook that "The road construction will be past the swimming areas by the time lifeguards are on duty. Impacts to the main swimming beach and Mobile Sport Fishing access will be limited."

"Mobile traffic lights will be set up as the road will be reduced to one lane where the crews are working," officials said. "Please proceed with caution. Vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians who do not abide by the traffic lights and signs will be subject to fines."
