Ocean Gate Mayor To Be Removed From Office: Report
After theft charges, Mayor Paul Kennedy will be removed from office effective Saturday, according to a report.

OCEAN GATE, NJ — Ocean Gate Mayor Paul Kennedy will be removed from office effective Saturday, according to a report by the Asbury Park Press.
This was explained by special Borough Attorney Jean Cipriani during a Borough Council meeting Wednesday night, APP reported.
As Kennedy has not attended a council meeting since before his March 18 arrest and has in fact not even entered Borough Hall since the charges, Kennedy's office is now vacant under law, APP said. Kennedy has failed to participate in meetings for eight weeks straight, Cipriani said, according to APP.

As of Saturday, Council President Dave Kendrick will become Acting Mayor, the report said.
The Ocean Gate Republican Club will have 15 days from Saturday to come up with a short list of three contenders to serve out the remainder of Kennedy's term through the end of the year, according to the report. The council will then choose the successor.
