Plane Crash At Ocean County Airport In Berkeley

BAYVILLE, NJ — The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating a small plane crash that occurred Sunday in Ocean County, officials said.

Around 6 p.m., a single-engine Cessna 172 crashed at Ocean County Airport in Bayville with two people on board, an FAA spokesman told Patch. Neither were injured, the FAA said.

The aircraft left from Old Bridge Airport in Englishtown, the spokesman said.

According to a report from the FAA, the plane had engine issues before crashing into the perimeter fence of the airport and catching on fire. The total damage is unknown as of now, the FAA said.

Berkeley Police Sgt. Taylor Butler told the Asbury Park Press that a pilot and a flight instructor were on board.
