Special Olympic Torch Run To Travel By Berkeley
Law enforcement will pass along Berkeley in jogging attire, with the torch run ending at the Summer Games Opening Ceremony.

BERKELEY, NJ — A long journey to the Special Olympics New Jersey Summer Games passes along Berkeley. The "Flame of Hope" will pass through town Friday, June 7 in the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR).
More than 3,000 New Jersey officers will take the streets in jogging attire during the 26-leg journey. The journey on Leg 1 begins at 4:45 a.m. Berkeley Township is part of Leg 7.
The torch run culminates Friday night at the Summer Games Opening Ceremony at TCNJ. Athletes, their families and fans will gather in anticipation of Special Olympics New Jersey's largest competition event of the year.

Through year-round fundraising, the LETR earns more than $3 million per year for Special Olympics, generating a record $4.1 million in 2018.

Spectators are invited to watch and cheer on officers. Special Olympic events will include bocce, gymnastics, powerlifting, softball, swimming, tennis and track and field. For more information, visit njtorchrun.org.
