UPDATE: Toddler Plunges From Second-Story Balcony In Seaside Heights Motel

Two-year-old girl was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center Saturday evening, suffered minor injuries.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS - A 2-year-old girl fell 17 feet from a second-floor balcony Saturday night at the Skyview Manor Motel on Dupont Avenue, Detective Steven Korman said.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. Patrolman Christopher Linnell identified the child as a 2-year-old female from Reading, PA. The little girl was conscious, alert and crying when he arrived, Korman said.

The child was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where she is listed in stable condition. She sustained minor injuries She is being held for observation and is expected to be released soon, he said.

"She went through the balcony where one spindle was missing, falling approximately 17 feet to the ground below," Korman said. "A parent was located on the balcony during the time of the incident. "

The accident is being investigated by The Seaside Heights Police Detective Bureau in addition to the Borough Code Enforcement Department, he said.
