Jersey Family Yards, Fall Planting and Landscaping for a Health Environment: Fall planting and landscaping tips designed for homeowners that offers easy, yet comprehensive information about creating a healthy and sustainable backyard using native plants. The benefits of a Jersey-Friendly Yard include a healthier foundation of soil for your garden, appropriate plants for the soil conditions in one’s yard, plants that support the needs of wildlife such as birds and butterflies, water conservation in the garden, and a Jersey-Friendly Yard supports a healthier watershed by emphasizing the importance of eliminating or reducing the amount of fertilizer and pesticides you need to put on your lawn and garden. 11 a.m.

Composting 101: Learn how to compost-- an essential practice to fertilize and enrich your garden, recycle your household food scraps, and lower your carbon footprint. 7 p.m.

Mold - An Informational Program: This program is designed to educate adults on mold. Molds are the most common forms of fungi found on earth. They can grow on almost any material, as long as moisture and oxygen are available. Molds can cause mild to severe health problems in sensitive individuals when a sufficient number of airborne spores are inhaled. Topics covered with this program include: what to wear when entering a building with mold damage, tips to clean up mold, health effects, and common types of mold. Presented by the Ocean County Health Department. 11 a.m.
An Afternoon of Mah Jongg: For Mah Jongg Mavens. If you have your own set, please bring it along. Registration required only for first visit. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Berkeley Library. 1 p.m.
