2 DUI, 2 Drug Possession Arrests Made In Bedminster

Bedminster Police report making 2 arrests for driving under the influence, 2 for marijuana possession 5 for warrants.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — Bedminster Police report making two arrests for driving under the influence, two for marijuana possession five for warrants, according to the blotter.

Bedminster Police blotter:

On Aug. 7 at 12:56 a.m.: Bedminster Police initiated a motor vehicle stop on a brown Toyota Tundra at the
intersection of Route 206 and Thosmor Road. Prior to stopping the vehicle the officer witnessed the driver fail to maintain a lane on several occasions. Subsequent to the investigation, Dwayne Richards, 38 of Somerville was arrested for driving under the influence and was issued a motor vehicle summons for unsafe lane change.

On Aug. 7 at 2:20 p.m.: Bedminster Police were advised that Plainfield Police had an individual in custody with a warrant out of Bedminster for $850. Emmanuel Wright, 26 of Plainfield was picked up and brought to municipal court where he was released on his own recognizance. Wright also was found to have a warrant out of Washington Twp. for $1,000 that he was unable to post and was released on his own recognizance pending a new court date.

On Aug. 8 at approximately 12:34 a.m.: Bedminster Police observed a black Pontiac G6 making a left turn onto Route 202/206 southbound from the River Road jug handle. As the vehicle was passing the officer observed a large amount of white smoke coming from the engine bay compartment and the smell of burning
rubber. The vehicle was then traveling in the middle lane of Route 202/206 southbound and was traveling at a very slow rate of speed. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop due to safety concerns on Route 202/206 southbound just prior to the I-287 southbound ramp. Subsequent to the investigation, Jasmine Bell, 29, of Macon, Georgia was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance (marijuana under 50 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bell was also issued a motor vehicle summons for operation of MV while in possession of CDS.

On Aug. 9 at approximately 11:16 p.m.: Bedminster Police observed a blue Mercedes sedan traveling on Route 202/206 southbound in the area of River Road with obstructed front windows due to tint. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on I-287 southbound at mile marker 22. Subsequent to the investigation, Preston Fletcher, 29, of Hillside was arrested for possession of CDS (marijuana under 50 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fletcher was also issued motor vehicle summonses for obstruction of windshield for vision and operation of MV while in possession of CDS.

On Aug. 11 at approximately 12:46 a.m.: While traveling westbound on Burnt Mills Road, Bedminster Police observed a blue Subaru ahead turn into Burnt Mills Park parking lot. Due to the park being closed after dark the officer followed the vehicle and witnessed the vehicle park in the northwest corner of the lot. Subsequent to the investigation the driver, Caleb Allen, 24, of Bridgewater was arrested for driving under the influence, issued a motor vehicle summons for careless driving and issued a township ordinance for being in park after hours.

On Aug. 11 at approximately 2:46 a.m.: Bedminster Police observed a gold Chevy Trailblazer traveling on Route 202/206 northbound in the area of AT&T pond with no license plate lights and failing to keep right. A motor vehicle stop was conducted in the area of Route 206 northbound and Quick Chek. Subsequent to the investigation, passenger, Raeesah Akbar, 23, of Hillside was arrested on a Jersey City warrant for $200 and two Union warrants totaling $1,000. Akbar was unable to post and was released on her own recognizance. Passenger, Siddeeq Modeste, 22, of Newark was arrested for two warrants out of Irvington for totaling $350, a warrant out of Union for $1,118, a warrant out of Newark for $200 and hindering his own apprehension and issued a motor vehicle summons for failure of an adult rear passenger to wear a seatbelt. Modeste posted bail for the Irvington warrants and was released on his own recognizance pending a new court date for the warrants out of Newark and Union. Passenger, Raiya Lucas, 21, of Union was arrested for hindering apprehension of another. The driver, Dequan Lewis, 23, of Union was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving after DL/Registration suspense/revoked, maintenance of lamps and failure to keep right.
