Armchair Tour of Historic Downtown Bernardsville

Within each historic structure lies a fascinating story of the development of an American town.

Join us at Bernardsville Public Library on Sunday, February 11 at 2:00 pm for a slideshow tour of Historic Downtown Bernardsville. Sponsored by the Historic Preservation Advisory Committee and Friends of Historic Bernardsville, historians Eileen Grippo and Daniel Lincoln will take listeners on an armchair tour that uses historic photographs and period documents to explore the origins of our town and how trends in architecture, transportation, commerce and innovation have shaped the Bernardsville we know today. Both Ms. Grippo and Mr. Lincoln are trustees of Friends of Historic Bernardsville, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Today's downtown Bernardsville still fits in the footprint of the town of one hundred years ago. This tour looks at the origins of Bernardsville and structures from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. While some are mostly intact, others have changed significantly. Within each lies a fascinating story of the development of an American town.

There is no charge to attend the meeting, but advance registration is requested. Register online at ww.bernardsvillelibrary.org and follow the link from Adult Programs, or call the library at 908-766-0118 to sign up.
