Bloomfield Welcomes Its First Female Career Firefighter In 139 Years

The past few years have seen several inspiring "firsts" for women trailblazers in North Jersey.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Stephanie Orgueira-Aponte has set a milestone in Bloomfield as the town’s first female career firefighter.

On Tuesday, the Bloomfield Division of Public Safety gave a round of applause to Orgueira-Aponte on social media:

“Today is a monumental day in the Bloomfield Fire Department’s nearly 139-year history. Let’s give a big welcome to our 1st female career firefighter. Congratulations to Stephanie Orgueira-Aponte on your first day protecting the residents of Bloomfield. FF Aponte recently completed a rigorous training curriculum at the Passaic County Fire Academy as well as EMT certification prior to today. Welcome to the Bloomfield Fire Department, FF Aponte and best of luck on your career.”
